Efficient management of long-term assets has ensured the proper functioning of educational institutions by guaranteeing the preservation, availability, and appropriate use of resources. However, it has been observed that institutions that fail to achieve proper asset management and control exhibit administrative irregularities, negatively impacting operational efficiency and user satisfaction. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and analyze deficiencies in the management and storage of long-term assets in the warehouse of the Technical University of Babahoyo. A qualitative-descriptive approach was employed, utilizing techniques such as direct observation, interviews, and document review to diagnose the current conditions of the warehouse and the practices of the responsible personnel. The results revealed that a lack of planning in receiving, the absence of appropriate storage methods, inadequate physical layout, and the concentration of responsibilities in a single custodian negatively affected inventory efficiency and control. Furthermore, these deficiencies led to disorganization, delivery delays, and deterioration of the assets. It was concluded that improving logistics management requires the implementation of viable procedures, staff training, space optimization, and strengthening of internal controls to ensure efficient and safe handling of institutional resources.
